Northfield Bank Signs Leases on Three Properties

STATEN ISLAND, NY, February 26, 2008 –– John W. Alexander, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Northfield Bank, announced today the Bank has signed leases for two new branch locations on Staten Island and a new operations facility in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

The Bank has leased land at 521 Forest Avenue at the corner of North Mada and will construct a new bank branch at the location. The new branch will allow the Bank to relocate its existing branch at 741 Castleton Avenue that will close when its lease expires at the end of 2008.

A second land lease has been signed for 1158 Hylan Boulevard in the Grasmere community. The Bank plans to construct a new bank branch on the site and expects it to be completed by early 2009.

“These new branch locations increase Northfield’s presence on Staten Island and will allow us to provide easier access and enhanced convenience to our customers,” stated Alexander.

Both locations will include a drive-up facility, customer parking, 24-Hour ATM access and a state of the art customer service area with online banking terminals.

The Bank has also leased office space at 581 Main Street in Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. The space will allow the Bank to unify back-office functions currently located in Avenel, Rahway, and Monroe Township, New Jersey and Staten Island, New York. The New Jersey locations were acquired by Northfield Bank as part of its merger with Liberty Bank in 2002. A June 2008 occupancy date is expected.

Alexander added that, “This operations facility will physically unite different areas currently functioning from several locations allowing for more effective and efficient communications between departments of the Bank.”

Plans are also underway to refurbish the exterior and grounds of the Bank’s main branch located at 1731 Victory Boulevard in Staten Island, NY. In addition to being the Bank’s main branch, it will also house the Northfield Bank Foundation’s offices.
