Scam artists are taking advantage of fears surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19) and we remind you to be cautious and aware of scams that may put you at risk.
Defend Against Cyber Scams
Northfield Bank urges you to remain vigilant for cyber scams, especially those related to coronavirus (COVID-19). Scammers may send you emails with dangerous attachments or links to fraudulent websites to trick victims into revealing sensitive information or donating to fraudulent charities or causes.
We encourage customers to remain vigilant and take the following precautions.
Large Cash Withdrawals
Northfield Bank advises against making large cash withdrawals. Northfield Bank is a well-capitalized institution and your money is federally insured by the FDIC up to $250,000.
Withdrawing large sums of cash also raises safety concerns. If others become aware of these large cash withdrawals, you are potentially exposing yourself to robbery or harm. Also, cash that is destroyed by fire or other means is not covered by FDIC insurance and may not be covered by other types of insurance (i.e. homeowners).
